Who we are
CorewebIT ("we", "us") is a web design and software development business based in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia, operated by Ali Hassan. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit corewebit.com.au, contact us, or become a client. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, even where the law doesn't strictly require it of a business of our size.
Contact for privacy matters: legal@corewebit.com.au (or support@corewebit.com.au).
What information we collect
The information we collect depends on how you deal with us.
- Contact form and email. Your name, email address, the service you are interested in, and the message you write. If you phone or email us directly, we also collect your contact details and what you tell us.
- Client projects. Business and contact details, the content you give us for your website or software (text, images, logos), and account details needed to set up hosting, domains and services on your behalf. We never ask you to send passwords by email, and we ask you to use a secure method instead.
- Free Website Check. The website address you enter, your name and your email address. We load that public web page once to run the check, show you the results and email you a review. We do not use the check to collect any other information about your website or your visitors.
- Invoices and payments. Billing name, business details and payment records. We do not collect or store card numbers on this website.
- Technical information. When you visit the site, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes your IP address and basic request details (such as pages requested, browser type and approximate country) to deliver the site, keep it secure and limit abuse of the contact form. Messages sent through the contact form include the visitor's approximate country as an anti-spam aid.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and our services are aimed at businesses.
How we use your information
- To reply to your enquiry and prepare quotes.
- To deliver, host, maintain and support the websites and software we build for you.
- To send invoices and keep accounting and tax records.
- To protect the website and our systems from spam, misuse and security threats.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising profiles. We will only send you marketing emails if you ask us to, and you can opt out at any time.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only where needed to run our business, with providers acting on our behalf, including:
- Cloudflare: hosting and delivery of this website, security, and sending the emails generated by our contact form.
- Our email provider: to receive and store emails sent to our corewebit.com.au addresses.
- Google Fonts: this website loads fonts from Google. When a page loads, your browser contacts Google, which receives your IP address.
- Professional advisers and payment or accounting services, when needed to invoice you or meet legal obligations.
- Platform and domain providers that you ask us to use for your project (for example a domain registrar, Shopify or a payment gateway).
We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect our legal rights.
Overseas disclosure
Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where they operate. We take reasonable steps to choose reputable providers with appropriate security. If you would like to know more about where your information is processed, contact us.
Cookies, analytics and links to other sites
This website does not currently use advertising cookies or third-party analytics. If we add analytics in future, we will update this policy first. Our site may contain links to other websites, including our concept projects, LinkedIn and government pages. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites.
Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including using secure hosting, access controls and encrypted connections (HTTPS). No online system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We keep enquiry emails for as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period afterwards. We keep client and financial records for at least the period required by Australian tax and business law (generally 5 years). When we no longer need personal information, we delete or de-identify it.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing legal@corewebit.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time, normally within 30 days, and we may need to confirm your identity first.
If you are unhappy with how we handled your information, contact us first so we can try to fix it. If you remain unsatisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Data breaches
If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm, we will act promptly to contain it and will notify affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner where the law requires.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated.
